In the performance calculations of single-sided linearinduction motor (SLIM),the equivalent circuit technique (ECT) is used.In this paper, a new approach is proposed for obtaining the secondaryimpedance of single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM) with a doublelayer reaction rail by using the layered secondary model. Theproposed method improves the ECT technique by considering thesaturation effect and the non-linear complex equivalent relativepermeability. This study also examines the contributions of otherelectromagnetic effects, such as longitudinal end effect andtransverse edge effect as well. Our method is applied to the SLIM andcomputed results of the method are compared to the experimentalresults of the previous studies. This evaluation proved that theoutcomes of the proposed method are in accordance with theexperimental results widely studied in the literature.
