Over the past four decades it has been widely recognized thatthe incidence of lung cancer has been rapidly increasing and isone of the most challenging problems in public health inChina. For more than 30 years an excess of lung cancer hasbeen noticed among workers in tin mines in South China.Wehave been working in this high-incidence area since 1975(Fig 1) and have published the data of an epidemiologicalstudy, results of a mass survey, the clinical features as well asetiological studies of the occupational lung cancer.
