Construction of Regional Pattern for Ecological Security in RegionalDevelopment

The newly proposed concept, the Regional Pattern for Ecological Security (RPES), provided an integratedstrategy for implementing ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation at regional scale. Based on the concept andits theoretical basis, the designing principles and a preliminary method were put forward. With the method, the RegionalPattern for Ecological Security of the area along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province (the AYRAP) is constructed. Interms of the ecological features of the AYRAP, an ecological security pattern should be established, consisting of 3 ecologicalsources, 6 ecological corridors and numerous ecological patches and wedges.
