Missing in climate action: concrete health activities in nationally determined contributions

As part of the Paris Agreement, participating countriesoutlined ambitious steps to address climate changemitigation and adaptation in the form of nationallydetermined contributions (NDCs). The NDCs re?ectcountries’ ambitions to reduce emissions and adaptto climate impacts, taking into consideration theirnational circumstances and capabilities. Health is oneof the top fve sectors described as vulnerable in theNDCs,1 as the damaging e?ect climate change is havingon health worldwide has been increasingly recognised.2Meanwhile, health is also prominent as one of the17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that comprisethe 2030 Agenda, and there is a growing emphasis onidentifcation of coherent approaches to implementboth agendas.
