Thepresentedcomprehensivemethodisabletomodelandanalyzetheoperationalreliabilitycharacteristicsandtheoperationalcostsofatechnicalsystem.Itenablestointegrateallrelevantaspectsrelatedtosystemreliability,maintenanceandlogisticsaswellasdependenciesbetweenthemintooneconjointsystemmodelusinganextendedcoloredstochasticPetrinetandareliabilityblockdiagram.Thesemainmodelingaspectscover:Reliabilitystructure,componentswithseveraloperationalstatesandgeneraldistributedfailuretimes,failuredependencies,maintenancestrategy,resourcesanddependencies,logistics,queuingaspectsandoperationalcosts.TheanalysismethodforthesystemmodelwhichisbasedontheMonte-Carlosimulationisimplementedinthedevelopment-andsimulation-environment“PetriSim”whichisintroducedinthispaperandappliedtoanexemplarysystem.Inthiscasestudytheinterdependenciesinsideaproductionlinerelatedtoreliability,maintenanceandlogisticsareconsideredandtheireffectsontheoperationalavailabilityandcostsareinvestigated.Anoptimalmaintenancestrategyisdeterminedandaninvestmentdecisioncanbesupported.
