Analysis of defects in L-section profile ring rolling

摘要

The ring rolling is a process of gradually forming the ring material along the outer shape of the driven roll. In this paper, defects occurring in the profile rolling of a ring material with an asymmetric cross section rather than a general rectangular cross section are analyzed. Major defects occur on flange and bottom of ring material. Finite element analysis and physical modeling were used for the analysis. Based on the analysis results, methods were proposed to improve the defects and it was reflected in the actual process line.
