摘要

A new process for forming a flange on the outside of a cup made by deep drawing is proposed. The flange is formed by compressing partially the outside of the opening edge of the drawn cup while keeping the internal diameter of the drawn cup constant. During the compressing process, the material under the compressing punch is deposited by shear deformation and compressed finally to a flat flange between the compressing punch and the die. This process is examined by FEM simulation and experiment. The forming limit by buckling is affected by the sheared thickness and the distance between the compressing punch and the die. Moreover, dimensions of product can be predicted precisely by FEM simulation with a model of elasto-plastic workpiece.
