摘要

Osteoporosis in chronic diseases is very frequent andpathogenetically varied. It complicates the course of theunderlying disease by the occurrence of fractures, whichaggravate the quality of life and increase the mortality of patientsfrom the underlying disease. The secondary deterioration of bonequality in chronic diseases, such as diabetes of type 1 and type 2and/or other endocrine and metabolic disorders, as well asinflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis – aremostly associated with structural changes to collagen, alteredbone turnover, increased cortical porosity and damage to thetrabecular and cortical microarchitecture. Mechanisms ofdevelopment of osteoporosis in some inborn or acquireddisorders are discussed.
