Antihypertensive and capdioprotective efficacy of bisoprolol in middle-aged and elderly patients with arterial hypertension

The aim of the study was to clinical effi cacy and security of the application in bisoprolol on treatment in middle-aged and elderly patients with arterial hypertension. There were examined 50 patients with arterial hypertension. Thirty one patients with arterial hypertension were treated with bisoprolol 5 - 10 mg daily. All examinations were carried out before and 4 weeks after bisoprolol therapy. According to our results, bisoprolol signifi cantly reduced blood pressure (BP), the pressure load and hypertension time index during 24 hours, day and nigth time. Bisoprolol can also normalized BP variability and diurnal BP rythm in addition to signifi cant antihypertensive action. The effi cacy and security of clinical application were determined.
