Inthepresentwork,thenortha€“southasymmetryofsolaractivitywasexaminedbyanalyzingstatisticallythehemisphericdistributionofannualnumbersofsunspotgroups,usingtheRoyalGreenwichObservatorydatasetfromtheyear1874through2000.Aninterestingphenomenonisfoundthatthesolaractivityofacycleusuallyhasthesamebeginningandendtimes,butdifferentmaximumamplitudesatdifferentmaximumtimesinthehemispheres.Somecharacteristicsoftheasymmetryofsolaractivitywereinvestigatedandexplained.Forsolarcycle23,adominanceofsolaractivityispredictedtooccurinthesouthernhemisphereinseveralforthcomingyears.
