WepresentASCAresultsofthepairclustersA399andA401.TheregionbetweenthetwoclustersexhibitsexcessX-raysoverthevalueexpectedwithasimplesuperpositionofthetwoclusters.Wehavefound,however,notemperatureriseatthemergingfront;thetemperatureisneartheaverageofthoseintheinnerregionsofthetwoclusters.Thesefactsindicatethatalthoughthetwoclustersarereallyinteracting,itisnotpresentlystrong.Theinnerregionsofthetwoclustersshownoradialvariationsinthetemperature,abundanceorabsorption.Wesetupper-limitsofthemass-depositionrateofcoolingflowtobeá1€35Ma??yra?’1andá1€59Ma??yra?’1forA399andA401,respectively.Ahintofanazimuthalvariationinthetemperaturewasalsofound.
