WereportonthefirstresultconcerningtheOphiuchusclusterofgalaxiesobservedwithASCAduringtheperformance-verificationphase.Theobtainedimageintheenergyrangeof0.7a€“10keVisnearlycircular,andthepeakoftheX-raysurfacebrightnessiscoincidentwiththepositionofthecDgalaxy.WeanalyzedtheASCAGISdatawithina13a€2.8radiusoftheclustercenterwhileconsideringtheenergy-dependentflux-contaminatedeffectduetoASCAX-raytelescope.Thisdatacanbewellexplainedwiththeisothermal?2model,inwhichthedensityprofileisexpressedwitha?2profileofrcore=3a€2.8and?2=0.62,andthetemperatureandmetalabundancesareconstantatkT=9.8keVandZ=0.24Za??.ThecentralexcessdensityprofileobtainedwithEinsteinHRIisalsoconsistentwiththeASCAGISdata.
