Chemicalbathdepositiontechniquehasbeenusedtosynthesizetinselenide(SnSe)powderandthinfilms.ThesynthesizedSnSehasbeenfoundtohavegrainsizelessthan100nm.TheSnSethinfilmsaredepositedonglasssubstratesinanaqueousalkalinemediumusingsodiumselenosulphateasSe2-ionsource.ToassessthequalityoftheSnSethinfilmsthemorphologyofSnSehasbeenstudiedbyusingscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)atdifferentresolutionsandcrystallitesizehasbeencalculatedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD).Informationofthestrainandtheparticlesizehasbeenobtainedfromthefullwidthsathalfmaximum(FWHM)ofthediffractionpeaks.ThebandgapofnanocrystallineSnSehasbeencalculatedusingabsorbancecurvesandblueshiftinthefundamentaledgehasbeenobserved.
