Railway vehicle operation is connected with wearing of railway wheel rims,resulting in the loss of original shape of rims. It causes the necessity of periodicreconstruction of the shape of the rim in the process called re-profilówng which involvesmachining. This process is associated with considerable loss of rail wheel rim material and itresults in shortening wheelsets operating time. The use of suitable profiles shape in reprofilówng process can minimize the loss of material.
