A neurilemmoma, also called schwannoma, is a benign,encapsulated, slow growing tumor arising from the neuralsheath’s Schwann cells of the peripheral, cranial or autonomicnerves. Clinically, a schwannoma is indistinguishable from otherbenign tumors. The etiology is unknown, there is no genderpreference and the tumors occur most commonly betweenthe ages of 20 and 50 years. Approximately 25 to 48% ofthese tumors occur in the head and neck region, with only1% occurring in the mouth. The present article reports a caseof masseteric space neurilemmoma, which demonstrates aremarkable presentation for this benign neural tumor.
