Puesta en valor de los Paisajes Culturales a través del turismo

The province of San Juan is located in the central western part of Argentina. Its rural areas have common characteristics in relation to climate, resources, production, activities, traditions and habits. Most of these areas share valuable cultural landscape. However, its potential is undermined by the stagnation of economic and social development, which threatens people and culture, usually resulting in the loss of traditions and the deterioration of the built heritage This article shows relevant aspects of a plan for enhancement of natural and cultural heritage of one of those rural settlements, the Zonda department, through tourism. With a participatory approach the most critical problems in different aspects have been detected: environment, infrastructure, product image, tourist facilities and services. Once the supply and the demand have been identified, public, private and social strategies were set for the development and marketing of Zonda as touristic product.
