Turismo sustentable o ecoturismo: Un análisis de caso en la reserva natural privada “La Aurora del Palmar”, Entre Ríos, Argentina

Los impactos producidos por el turismo de masas ha generado en las últimas décadas el crecimiento de modalidades bajo parámetros de sustentabilidad. Se ha expandido la premisa del respeto por el ambiente y por el patrimonio cultural original de los espacios turísticos. Además, la masificación de términos usados indistintamente como “eco”, “verde”, “responsable”, no siempre se condice con las actividades desarrolladas en los sitios visitados. En este trabajo se analizó el caso de la reserva natural privada “La Aurora del Palmar”, ubicada frente al Parque Nacional El Palmar, provincia de Entre Ríos, Argentina, donde se observan rasgos del ecoturismo en la oferta, pero no así en gran parte de la demanda. Se recopiló información a través de entrevistas al personal de la reserva natural y se realizó un muestreo aleatorio a turistas y grupos educativos, considerando las principales variables implicadas en el ecoturismo. Los resultados muestran que desde la oferta se encontró una coincidencia con las principales características del ecoturismo, desde la preservación ambiental, inclusión de la comunidad local y organización de los servicios. Desde la demanda se encontró con turistas y visitantes escolares relacionados al espacio principalmente por un interés recreativo. Por lo tanto, si se considera en conjunto a la oferta y la demanda los resultados sugieren que estaríamos básicamente frente a una modalidad de turismo de naturaleza bajo parámetros de sustentabilidad. Esto implica que desde la oferta se trata de ecoturismo y desde la demanda se trata de turismo responsable. ABSTRACT Sustainable tourism or ecotourism: A case study of the “Aurora del Palmar” private nature reserve, Entre Ríos, Argentina The impact of mass tourism has generated the growth of modalities within sustainability parameters in recent decades. The premise of respect for the environment and the original cultural heritage of tourism spaces has grown. However, the massification of terms used interchangeably like “eco”, “green”, “responsible” is in stark contrast to the activities undertaken at the visited sites. This work analyzed the case of the “Aurora del Palmar” private nature reserve, located outside El Palmar National Park, Entre Ríos Province, Argentina, where traits of eco-tourism can be seen in the supply, but not so in most of the demand. Information was collected through interviews with personnel at the nature reserve and a random sampling of tourists and education groups, considering the main variables involved in ecotourism. The results showed that the supply coincided in its main characteristics with ecotourism, from environmental conservation, inclusion of the local community and organization of the services. From the demand it was found that tourists and school visitors related to the space principally out of recreational interest. Therefore, if the supply and demand are taken together, the results suggest that we would basically have a modality of nature tourism within sustainability parameters. This implies that the supply is ecotourism and the demand is responsible tourism. Key words: Sustainability, El Palmar National Park, nature tourism, responsible tourism.
