Avaliou-se a utiliza??o do nitrogênio de vagens de faveira (Parkia platycephala Benth.) associadas ao feno de capim-Tifton 85 (Cynodon spp.) nas propor??es 0; 25; 50; 75 e 100%, com base na MS. Utilizou-se 20 ovinos machos adultos mesti?os Santa Inês, em gaiolas de metabolismo, em delineamento de bloco ao acaso, distribuídos quanto ao peso vivo. Quantificou-se os teores de nitrogênio ingerido (Ni), fecal (Nf) e urinário (Nu) e suas rela??es, a digestibilidade da proteína e o balan?o de nitrogênio. Determinou-se os parametros ruminais pH e N-NH3 e a concentra??o de ureia no soro sanguíneo, ao se considerar os tempos de coleta como subparcelas das parcelas (níveis de vagens de faveira) nos blocos. Houve efeito da inclus?o de vagens de faveira na rela??o Nf/Ni, com excre??o de 0,28% do Ni como Nf por unidade percentual de inclus?o de vagens. A rela??o Nu/Ni apresentou efeito quadrático, reduzindo a até 51,3% de vagens, com 12,1gNu/100 gNi. A maior reten??o de N ocorreu com 35,4% de vagens, o que indica eficiência de utiliza??o de compostos nitrogenados. O pH ruminal e as concentra??es de N-NH3 no líquido ruminal e de ureia no soro sanguíneo foram influenciados pelas dietas, tempos de coleta e intera??o nível de vagens x tempo de coleta. O N-NH3 no líquido ruminal e a ureia no soro sanguíneo mostraram-se eficientes em refletir o status nutricional de ovinos quanto à disponibilidade de nitrogênio da dieta, podendo ser adotada em sistemas de produ??o.↓The metabolism of nitrogenous compounds in sheeps fed diets with P. platycephala pods was evaluated. Twenty Santa Inês crossbreed sheep, males, adults, castrated were maintained in metabolism cages, according to the experimental design of randomized blocks, distributed according to live weight. Ingested (Ni), fecal (Nf) and urinary (Nu) nitrogen, and its relations; crude protein digestibility and nitrogen balance were quantified. In the end of the metabolism experiment, ruminal parameters (pH and N-NH3) and blood serum urea nitrogen concentration was quantified as split spot parcel in time, with the parcels being P. partycephala pods levels in the blocks. Linear crescent effect of inclusion of P. platycephala pods in the Nf/Ni ratio was verified, with 0.28% of the Ni excreted as Nf for percent unit of P. platycephala pods inclusion, whereas Nu/Ni ratio presented quadratic effect with inclusion of P. platycephala pods, decreasing until 51.3% of P. platycephala pods, with 12.2g Nu/100gNi. Nitrogen retention (% Ni) was maximum with 36.4% of P. platycephala pods, indicating better efficiency of nitrogenous compounds utilization and smaller impact in the environment. Ruminal pH and the N-NH3 in the ruminal liquid and blood serum urea nitrogen concentrations was affected for experimental diets, collection times and P. platycephala pods x collection times. N-NH3 in the ruminal liquid and blood serum urea were efficient in reflect the sheep nutritional status in relation with nitrogen availability, and it may be adopted in production systems.
