I read with great interest the article on HPV DNA testingfor cervical cancer screening in Brazil, authored by theBrazilian Association for the Lower Genital Tract Pathologyand Colposcopy (ABPTGIC, in the Portuguese acronym).1 Inagreement with the authors, I have found irrefutable evi dence sustaining the use of molecular detection of HPV DNAin this setting. However, every method, no matter howinnovative or advanced, has limitations. The "Achilles'heel" of HPV DNA primary screening is the detection ofglandular lesions. I found that the manuscript by the ABPT GIC tangentially addressed this issue.
