Wireless Sensor Network Simulator to Study Routing Protocols

Background: Wireless sensor networks are applied in many applications. Therouting protocols that are developed for sensor networks must be energy efficientand scalable. It is necessary to perform a detailed analysis of sensor networks forunderstanding of the performance of them. Objective: Network simulator scaninform us about the performance and behavior of these protocols on variousnetwork topologies. This research considers simulation of routing protocols atSensor Networks Research Laboratory. Results: Sensor Simulator is a discreteevent simulation framework for sensor networks built over OMNeT++. Thisframe work allows the user to debug and test software for distributed sensornetworks. Conclusion: This research implements a comparative study onDirected Diffusion Routing Protocol on both ns2 and SensorSimulator.
