Evaluation of litter traits in Sudanese rabbits

ThisexperimentwasconductedtoevaluatelitterproductiveandreproductivetraitsofthelocalrabbitsofSudanunderrelativelyimprovedmanagerialconditions.#1616;Atotalof665kitsobtainedfrom60damsand20siresintwoconsecutivebatcheswereusedinthisstudy.Theleastsquaresmeansfornbsp;numberbornalive(BL),litterweightatbirth(LWB),kitweightatbirth(KWB),littersizeatweaning(LSW),litterweightatweaning(LWW)andkitweightatweaning(KWW)were4.13±0.22kits,172±7.80g,43.7±1.77g,2.90±1.99kits,1277±80.33gand466±20.95grespectively.Thecoefficientsofvariationswerehigh(26.25to47.2%)exceptforLWB.Theresultsalsorevealedthatseasonoftheyearsignificantly(P0.05)affectedweaningtraits(LSW,LWWandKWW)only.Correlationcoefficientsamongthetraitsweregenerallypositiveandhigh.
