TheproductivityofF1hybridskidsinextensivefarminginLubumbashiwasestimatedfrommortalityandgrowthperformancecomparedwiththatofBoergoats'pure'andlocalkids.Pre-weaningmortalityrate(0-90days)observedforthelocals,Boergoats'pure'andhybridBoerkidswasrespectively14.65%(17/116)(seePart2:Analysisofthegrowthoflocalkids),16,1%(10/62)and8.98%(15/167)overallforbothsexes.TheBoersgrowthperformancewere2.40±0.31kgatbirth;6.80±0.84kgto1month;14.2±1.59kgat3months;17.9±1.15kgat6monthsand24.7±1.39kgto9months.Theaverageweightofvariancewashigherthan3months,thenat9months.Averagedailygainswere143g/day,respectively(0-1months);123g/day(1-3months);41.1g/day(3-6months)and75.5g/day(6-9months).Thehybridkidsgrowthperformancewere2.18±0.46kgatbirth;5.10±1.22kgto1month;9.17±1.94kgat3months;14.2±2.64kgat6monthsand21.6±2.59kgat9months.Theaverageweightofvariancewashigherthan3months,thenat9months.Averagedailygainswererespectively94.1g/day(0-1months);65.7g/day(1-3months);56.5g/day(3-6months);83.9g/day(6-9months).Averagedailygainwashigherinthedryseasonbeforeweaning;afterweaningkidsbornduringtherainyseasonhadanaveragedailygainthanthoseborninthedryseason.Thus,theintroductionofBoerbloodmustbeaccompaniedbyapreimprovingfarmingconditions.
