Thirtyrabbitsofmixedsexeswithanaverageinitialweightof600gwereusedtoevaluatetheeffectofreplacingmaizewithsundriedcassavawastemealongrowthperformanceandcarcasscharacteristicsofrabbits.Fiveexperimentalisonitrogenous(18%cp)dietswereformulatedsuchthatsundriedcassavawastereplacemaizeat0%,25%,75%and100%.Therabbitswererandomlyallocatedtothese5isonitrogenousdiets.Eachdietarytreatmentconsistsof2replicateswith3rabbitsineachreplicate.Waterandfeedwereprovidedad-libitumthroughouttheexperimentalperiodof91days.Theresultshowsthatdietarytreatmentdidnothaveeffectonfeedintake,averagedailyweightgain,feedefficiencyandcarcasscharacteristics.Thecostofproducingaunitweightofrabbitwasgreatlyreducedbyreplacingmaizewithcassavawastemeal.Cassavawastemealmaythereforebeusedinsteadofmaizeinrabbitdietstoreducecostoffeedandtheheavydependenceonmaizeinanimalfeeding.
