Study of permanent incisor characters in Rembi sheep

Thisstudyfocusednbsp;onthepermanentincisorcharactersofRembisheepbreedrearedinagro-pastoralnbsp;systeminthehighlandofwesternAlgeria.Theincisorsof216maturesheepwereinspected,andresultsshowedahighincidenceofincisorprotrusion(malocclusion),withlengthening(55%).Themalocclusionsengenderdentaldefects,whoseorigincouldbethenbsp;nutritionaldeficienciesduetotheextensivefeedingmanagementofflocks.Thedentaldefectsaffectfeedintakeofsheep.Thus,reducingprofitabilityofsheepfarmingisduetoreducesliveweightgainandproductionandprematureculling.
