InapropertylocatedinCaucasia,(Antioquia),itwasevaluatedthedevelopmentofCratyliaargenteainthreeharvestfrequencies(45,60and90days)andheightsofcutting(30,60and90cm)during270days(August2003-June2004).Thedesignwasasplitplot,inwhichthemainplotsweretheheightsofcuttingandthesub-plotsweretheharvestfrequencies.Ineachtreatmentnbsp;thevariablesevaluatedweretotaldrymatterandaccumulatedtotaldrymatter(TDMandATDM),foragedrymatterandaccumulatedforagedrymatter(FDMandAFDM),leaf/stemrelation(FDM/SDM),crudeprotein(CP)anddegradabilityofdrymatterinsitu(DDM).TheaveragesofTDMandATDMwerenotaffectedbytheheightsofcuttng,whereastheharvestfrequencyhadahighlysignificanteffect.TheproductionofTDMwas70;120and214g/plantforthefrequencies45,nbsp;60and90daysrespectively,and99;144and115g/plantforheightsof30,60and90cm,respectively.nbsp;ATDMaveragesweresimilarforbothsetsoftreatments:427,nbsp;625and498g/plantfortherespectiveheightsand420,488and642g/plantfortheharvestfrequencies.TheharvestfrequencyhadasignificanteffectonFDMproduction.Theaverageswere54,nbsp;82and102g/plantforthefrequencies45,60and90days.ThepercentageofFDMintheTDMpresentedsimilaraveragesfortheheightsofcuttingof30,60and90cm.ThepercentageofFDMdecreasedwiththeincreaseofharvestfrequency,withnbsp;nbsp;averagesof85,8,73,2and45,7%,respectivelyforthefrequencies45,60and90days.TheaveragecontentofCP(%inDM)were19,5,19and20respectivelyfor30,60and90cmofheight.nbsp;ThevaluesofCPweresimilarforeachharvestfrequency.TheDDMdidnotpresentanydifferencesbetweendifferentheightsofcutting,butwasdifferentbetween45and90daysharvestfrequencies.Theaverageswere68,6and58,9%.Cratyliaargenteahaspotentialforproductionofforagebecauseofitsaccumulateddrymatteryieldandforagequality.
