Effect of roxazyme G2G supplementation on cassava plant meal fed to broiler chickens

Astraightfeedingtrialwascarriedouttoassessthenutritivevalueofenzymesupplementedcassavaplantmeal(ESCPM)onthegrowthperformance,organweightsandeconomicsofproductionofbroilerchickens.Fivedietswereformulatedtocontain0%cassavaplantmeal(CPM),20%CPMwith100mg/kgroxazymeG2G,20%CPMwith200mg/kgroxazymeG2G,40%CPMwith100mg/kgroxazymeG2Gand40%CPMwith200mg/kgroxazymeG2G.Twohundredandfiftyday-oldbroilerchicksMarshalbreedwererandomlydistributedtothe5treatmentsreplicated5timeseachat10birdsperreplicatetomakeatotalof50birdspertreatment.Feedsandwaterwereservedad-libitum.Recordsweretakenondailyfeedintakeandweeklyweightchanges.Attheendofthe56thday,5birdsperreplicatewererandomlyselectedandslaughteredforcarcassevaluationandrelativeorganweightsdetermination.nbsp;Birdsfed20and40%(ESCPM)recordedhigherweightgainwithanimprovementby8.3-16.7%comparedwithbirdsfedthecontrol(0%CPM).BirdsfedESCPMattherateof100mg/kgsupplementationefficientlyutilizedtheirdietsforfastergrowthwhencomparedwiththosefedattherateof200mg/kgsupplementation.Amongthecarcassandrelativeorganweightsdetermined,theliver,kidneyandgizzardofbroilersfedESCPMwerehigherthanthosefedthecontrol.nbsp;EconomicsofproductionrevealedthatfeedingbroilerchickensonESCPMat20and40%asreplacementformaizeiseconomicallyviable.
