Availability of pasture for domestic and wild herbivores in grazing land of Mpanda Tanzania

AstudywasconductedtoassessfeedresourcebasefordomesticandwildherbivoresingrazinglandsofMpandadistrict.Foragesamplesweretakenfromvariousgrazinglandsinwetanddryseasons.ResultsindicatedthatfeedresourcesfordomesticandwildherbivoresinMpandadistrictisbasedonmiombowoodlandsvegetations.Variousplantspecieswereidentifiedthatindicateplantsdiversityingrazinglands.However,plantspeciesedibletodomesticandwildherbivoreswere42.9%oftheavailableplantspeciespopulationingrazinglands.Furthermore,theedibleplantspecieswereconfinedto9plantfamiliesoutof39plantfamiliesdocumentedinthestudyarea.ThisimpliesthatfeedresourcebasefordomesticandwildherbivoresinMpandadistrictisnarrow.ThereforeeffortthroughestablishmentofproperlanduseplansinvillagesisrequiredtoensuresustainabilityofdomesticandwildherbivoresaswellasfeedresourcesinMpandadistrict.
