TheDemocraticRepublicofCongo(DRC)suffersfromahugefooddeficit,asalargenumberofAfricancountries.ThedevelopmentofthelivestocksectorinDRCisanimportantpartofthestrategyforalleviationoffoodinsecurity.Inthiscontext,thepoultrysectorhastobeseriouslyconsidered.Thankstoitsshortproductioncycle,itcanprovidearapidandaffordablesolutionformanypeople.ThisstudyaddressestheconstraintsfacedbytheproductionoflocalpoultrybreedsintheBas-CongoProvince.Severallimitingfactorsarefound,asanimaldiseases,feedsystem,housingconditionsandpredators.Thus,theeconomicandnutritionalconditionsofthefarmerscouldbeimprovedbydevelopingthelocalproductionpotential.Inordertoreachthisobjective,specialattentionshouldbepaidtothefeedqualityandtothemanagementpracticeingeneral,includingaccesstoveterinarycare.Geneticimprovementoflocalpoultrybreedsisalsotoconsider,providedthatthesuitabilityoftheanimalwithrespecttothecontextofitsbreedingispreserved.nbsp;
