Thestudywasconductedon40clinicallyhealthyrepeatbreedingcrossbredcattle(15withanovulation,15withdelayedovulationand10withnormalovulation).Theserumconcentrationsofcalcium(Ca),inorganicphosphorus(IP),magnesium(Mg),manganese(Mn),zinc(Zn),copper(Cu)andiron(Fe)duringtheoestruswerecomparedamongtheanimalswithnormalandimpairedovulations.Ovulatorystatusoftheexperimentalanimalswasdeterminedthroughperrectumexaminationandbloodsampleswerecollectedduringtheoestrus.nbsp;TheconcentrationsofCa(mg%),IP(mg%)andZn(ppm)variedsignificantly(P0.01)amongtheanimalswithnormalovulation(9.58±0.49,5.45±0.15and1.78±0.02),anovulation(6.48±0.13,4.45±0.14and0.85±0.03)anddelayedovulation(7.36±0.13,4.96±0.09and1.41±0.04).TheconcentrationsofMg(mg%)andMn(ppm)werefoundtobesignificantly(P0.01)lowerintheanimalswithanovulation(2.64±0.04and0.14±0.01)comparedtotheanimalswithnormal(3.12±0.05and28±0.01)anddelayedovulation(2.98±0.06and0.23±0.01).Incontrast,CuandFeconcentrationsdidnotdiffersignificantlyamongthedifferentovulatorygroups.nbsp;TheresultsindicatedthatCa,IPandZnwereprobablycrucialforthenormalovulatoryprocessandMgandMnbelowtheoptimumlevelmighthavecausedanovulationincrossbredcattle.However,CuandFemighthaveplayedlittleroleintheovulatoryprocessincrossbredcattle.
