Astudyonintakeandinvivodigestibilityofmaizestovertreatedat5%ureaassociatedwithmolassesinDjallonkésheepwasconductedbetweenAprilandSeptember2013.NineWestAfricandwarfsheepweredividedintothreegroupswiththreeanimalspergroupandhousedinindividualmetaboliccages.Theadaptationanddatacollection(urineandfeces)periodswere8and6daysrespectively.Eachsheepreceivedadailyrationof700gchoppedmaizestovertreatedat5%ureaassociatedwith0%molasse(CM5+M0)forgroup1;5%molasse(CM5+M5)forgroup2and10%molasse(CM5+M10)forgroup3.Samplesofeachtreatmentwerecollectedandtakentothelaboratoryforchemicalcompositionanalysis.Everymorning,therefusals(leftovers)ofeachrationwereweighed.Similarly,theamountsoffecesandurinefromeachsheepwereassessed,collected,weighedandsamplesweretakentothelaboratory.Themolassestreatmentimprovedtheintakeofthemaizestovertreatedat5%ureaassociatedwith5%molasses.Theadditionofmolasseshasincreasedtheleveloftotalcarbohydrate,ash,UFVandUFLofmaizestovertreatedat5%urea.ThedrymatterandorganicmatterintakeofthedietCM5+M5werehigherthanthoseofthedietsCM5+M0andCM5+M10whichwerecomparable.TheapparentedigestibilitiesofthedrymatterandorganicmatterofthedietsCM5+M0,CM5+M5andCM5+M10werecomparable.Thedigestibilityofcellswall(NDF)ofthedietCM5+M5werehighernbsp;withthedietCM5+M10.TheadditionofmolassesincreasedthenitrogenofthedietsCM5+M5andCM5+M10.Theseresultsshowthattheinclusionofmolassesincreasestheintakeanddigestibilityofmaizestovertreatedat5%urea.
