Anexperimentwasconductedtostudytheresponseoflayinghenstoadietscontaining0(SB0),13(SB13),23(SB23)and35%(SB35)levelsofwheatbran.Forty-eightlayinghens(ISABrown)wererandomlyassignedtothesefourtreatments(fourreplicates;threelayersperreplicate).Theexperimentlastedwas8weeksusinglayersagedbetween23-30weeks.Feedintake(FI),rateoflay(ROL),feedconversionratio(FCR),eggweight(EW)andrateofbreakdown(ROB)weremeasured.ResultsindicatedthatFIsforthe3dietscontainingwheatbranweresimilar.TheseresultswerehigherthantheFIofthecontroldiet(P0.05).ROLandEWwerethemostimportantforthegroupSB23.FCRoflayerswasdepressedwiththeincreaseofthelevelofwheatbranintheirdiets.Overtheentireperiodoflaying,theinclusionofwheatbranshowedanon-significanteffectonROBparameter.Theseresultssuggestedthatwheatbrancouldbeusedatthelevelof23%indietwithoutdetrimentaleffectsontheperformancelayers.nbsp;
