InviewofgeneratingadatabaseoffeedresourcesavailableinWestAfrica,astudywascarriedouttoinvestigatetheeffectofvariouslevelsofMoringaoleiferasupplementation,soleorcombinedwithconventionalconcentrate,on24hoursgasproductionandinvitrodigestibilityofgroundnuthay.Foursupplementswereusedforthestudy:concentrate(Co),Moringaoleiferaleafmeal(Mo),concentrateandMoringaoleiferamixture(75/25:C75and50/50:C50).Gasproduction(GP)after24hoursfermentationandinvitrodigestibility(IVTD)weresignificantlyhigherwithMoringaoleiferacomparedtoconcentratewhateverthelevelofsupplementationwhentheywereusedassolesupplements.WhenMoringaoleiferareplacedconcentrateinthesupplementby25%(C75)orby50%(C50),therewasnosignificantdifferenceinGPandIVTDbetweenthesesupplementsandMoringaoleiferaaloneat10%and20%levelofsupplementation.TheresultsofthepresentstudysuggestthatMoringaoleiferaleaveswhenmixedwithconventionalconcentratecouldimproveditsutilization.
