Theresearchwascarriedoutnbsp;nbsp;intheanimalhusbandryenterprise#8220;HermanosLotis#8221;,Granmaprovince,Cuba.Theaimwastodeterminethechemicalcompositionandnbsp;insitudegradabilityoftwospeciesoftropicalgrasses,BrachiariadecumbensandBrachiariahybridcultivarMulato,grownduringrainyanddryseasonin2005for30-75dayseach.Auniformcuttingwaspracticedat10cmheightandnofertilizationorirrigationwaspracticed.Lateron800gofthesampleweretakentodetermine%ofdrymatter,crudeprotein,crudefiber,phosphorsandcalcium;forinsitudigestibilityitwasusedtwocanulatedbovinesof400kgweightaccordingtotheinsaccorumenmethod.ThestatisticanalysisusedwasthestatisticprograminWindowsversion6.0andmeanscomparisonusingthemultiplerangetestofDuncan.Theindicatorswereaffectedbyage,bydecreasingtheprotein,phosphorus,anddigestibilityofdrymatterandorganicmatterinbothspeciesinthetwoperiodsevaluated.Thebestvalueswererecordedfor30daysforprotein,energyanddigestibilityofdrymatterandorganicmatter.ItisconcludedthatthetwospeciesofBrachiariahaveachemicalcompositionanddegradabilityacceptableforthistypeofsoil.
