ChemicalcompositionandinvitrodigestibilityofDesmodiumuncinatum,Desmodiumintortum,andArachisglabratawereevaluatedaloneormixedwithmaizestoverintheproportionof30%and70%respectively.nbsp;Theresultsofthisstudyrevealedthatthegasandshortchainfattyacids(SCFA)productionofArachisglabrataweresignificantlyhigher(P0.05)thanthoseofDesmodiumuncinatum,Desmodiumintortumnbsp;whenincubatedwithmaizestover.Themetabolisableenergy(ME)oftheselegumespecieswassimilarwhenincubatedwithmaizestover.Ontheotherhand,theEMofArachisglabrataincubatedalone(9.12MJ/kgMS)wassignificantlyhigher(P0.05)thanthoseofDesmodiumuncinatum(8.30MJ/kgMS)andDesmodiumintortumnbsp;(8.22MJ/kgMS).Themicrobialmassesproducedbythethreeleguminousplantsweresignificantlyhigher(P0.05)whentheywereincubatedalone.Theinvitroorganicmatterdigestibility(IVMOD)ofArachisglabrataalone(62.4%)andmixedwithmaizestover(58.2%)weresignificantlyhigher(P0.05)thanthoseofDesmodium.TheNDF-NofDesmodiumuncinatum(2.13%)weresignificantlyhigher(P0.05)thanthatofDesmodiumintortumnbsp;(1.67%)andArachisglabrata(0.57%)incubatedalone.Inthepresenceofmaizestover,theNDF-NofDesmodiumuncinatum(0.86%)wasstatisticallycomparable(P0.05)withthatofDesmodiumintortumnbsp;(0.73%)andsignificantlyhigher(P0.05)thanthatofArachisglabrata(0.52%).nbsp;TheleavesofDesmodiumuncinatum,Desmodiumintortumnbsp;andArachisglabratamixedwithmaizestoverproduceinterestingquantitiesofgas,AGVwithlessNDF-N.ThehighdigestibilityofArachisglabrata,DesmodiumuncinatumandDesmodiumintortumnbsp;makesthemexcellentsupplementsforbadqualityfodderduringthedryseasoninthisregion.
