Relationship between body condition and serum lipid profiles in dual-purpose cows in first lactation

Theobjectiveofthisinvestigationwastoevaluatetherelationshipbetweenvariationinbodyconditionandlipidprofilesfoundinserum,asaresponsetosupplementationwithcottonseed.13cowsF1(xHolsteinCebu)wereused,distributedin2treatmentsinacompletelyrandomizeddesign:G1(n=7),cowssupplementedwith2kgofcottonseed,andG2(n=6,non-supplementedcows.DatawereanalyzedbymeansofSpearmancorrelations.nbsp;Therewasnocorrelation(p0.05)betweenchangesinbodyconditionandtriglycerides,inthesupplementedandnon-supplementedcows.Therewasanegativecorrelationbetweenchangesinthebodyconditionandcholesterol(P0.05),insupplementedcows;Therewasnocorrelation(p0.05)betweenchangesinthebodyconditionandcholesterolinthenon-supplementedcows.NotcorrelatedinthebodyconditionvsHDL(p0.05)inthesupplementedcows.Whileinthenon-supplementedcowswasobservedcorrelationnegative(p0.05).NocorrelationwasfoundbetweenchangesinbodyconditionvsLDL(p0.05)inthesupplementedandnon-supplementedcows.Thelipidprofiles,cholesterolandHDLshowednegativecorrelationwiththechangesthatinbodyconditioninthesupplementedandnon-supplementedcows,overthe14weeks.
