Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of risk management on ensuring nursing safety in the operating room. Methods A total of 100 cases of patients with surgical treatment were included as the control group from June 2010 to February 2011, another 100 cases were selection as the observation group from March 2011 to January 2012. Both two groups were given routine nursing management, and the risk management method was performed in the observation. The incidences of nursing risk events and complaints rate were compared between two groups. Results The incidence of nursing risk events was 2.0 %(2/100) in the observation group and was 14.0%(14/100) in the control group, with a significant difference(P<0.05). There were 8 cases of nursing complaints reported in the control group, but none of patients in the observation group complained about the nursing service. Conclusion Application of risk management is effective to reduce the incidence of risk event and complaints, and to ensure the nursing safety in the operating room.
