：Objective To analyze the application value of quality-control circle in reducing postoperative patients with constipation in Department of Orthopedics. Methods 〓A quality-control circle team was set up to determine the activity theme and make activities. According to the major causes of constipation in postoperative patientsin Department of Orthopedics, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)special nursing techniques, such as auricular acupressure, TCM hot compress and so on, were developed. Results 〓The incidences of constipation were 81.27%(230/283)in pre-ameliorative group and 20.07%(54/269)in post-ameliorative group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=206.77, P0.01). Conclusion 〓The development of quality-control circle activity can help analyze the causes of constipation systematically, and can be used to formulate improvement measures. It can effectively decrease the incidence of constipation in postoperative patients in Department of Orthopedics and promote clinical nursing quality.
