Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of selfmanagement education on warfarin anticoagulation compliance of patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. Methods A total of 100 patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation were randomly divided into intervention group and control group, 50 cases in each group. During the period of hospitalization, the control group received routine health education, while the intervention group received routine health education combined with selfmanagement education. Family interview was used to assess the warfarin anticoagulation compliance of two groups 3 months after hospital discharge. Results The patients without other diseases and treated with anticoagulation education had significantly higher scores of anticoagulation compliance than the patients with other diseases and without anticoagulation education (P0.01). Scores of anticoagulation compliance 3 months after hospital discharge in both groups were significantly higher than those on admission (P0.01). After selfmanagement education, the scores of anticoagulation compliance in the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P0.01). Conclusion Selfmanagement education can improve the warfarin anticoagulation compliance in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation.
