:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of meticulous management in home enteral nutrition(HEN)support for elderly patients with esophageal cancer. Methods 〓Totally 80 patients with radical surgery for esophageal carcinoma were divided into the control group and the observation group, with 40 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received routine health education before hospital discharge, and a meticulous plan was adopted to manage the training and education of HEN in the observation group. The body weight, body mass index(BMI), total protein in serum and serum albumin were observed before and 4 weeks after hospital discharge. Results 〓Patients in the observation group had higher body weight and BMI compared with those in the control group at 4 weeks after hospital discharge(P0.05). Levels of Total protein in serum and serum albumin in the observation group were higher than those in the control group at 4 weeks after hospital discharge(P0.01). Conclusion 〓The meticulous management is effective to regulate the operation of HEN and improve the outcomes of nutritional support for elderly patients with esophageal cancer.
