Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of different oral nursing frequency and solution on oral comfort of patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage during fasting period. Methods A total of 72 cases of upper digestive tract hemorrhage patients during fasting periood were randomly divided into control group(n=35)and the observation group(n=37). The control group used normal 0.9% saline twice a day(06:00,15:00)for oral care. The observation group was given 1.5% hydrogen peroxide Mint solution twice a day(06:00,15:00)for oral care, and with additional mouth rinse for two times(10:00,22:00). The comparative analysis of two groups was made on halitosis, dry mouth, oral bacteria and incidence of oral ulcer. Results The proportion of patients with dry mouth and halitosis was lower in the observation than that of controls after oral care, with a significant difference(P0.05). There was no significant difference in culture results of oral bacterial and incidence of oral ulcer(P0.05). Conclusion The use of 1.5% hydrogen peroxide Mint solution for oral care can effectively relieve incidence of dry mouth and halitosis in patients with upper digestive tract hemorrhage during fasting period.
