:Objective To compare the effect of different oral care solutions in oral care for patients with severe cerebral hemorrhage. Methods 〓Totally 100 patients with severe cerebral hemorrhage were assigned to the control group and the study group, with 50 cases in each group. The normal saline was adopted as an oral care solution in the control group, and a hospital-made solution was used in the observation group. The oral complications such as ulcer and infection were recorded. The improvement effect on bad breath, coated tongue, debris index and plaque index were assessed before and after the intervention. The pH values at 3 and 7 days after intervention were assessed and compared between two groups. Results 〓The preprandial pH value and 2 h postprandial pH value in the study group were higher than those in the control group at 3 and 7 days after intervention, respectively(P0.01). Patients in the study group achieved lower scores of assessment on bad breath, coated tongue, debris index and plaque index compared with those in the control group(P0.01). The incidence of oral complications such as ulcer and infection was lower in the study group than that in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion 〓The hospital-made solution is potentially effective to improve the quality of oral care for patients with severe cerebral hemorrhage.
