This paper investigates the combined effects of magnetohydrodynamics andradiation on free convection .ow past an impulsively started isothermal vertical platewith Rosseland diffusion approximation. The .uid considered is a gray, absorbing-emitting radiation but a non-scattering medium, with approximate transformations theboundary layer governing the .ow are reduced to non-dimensional equations valid in thefree convection regime. The dimensionless governing equations are solved by the finiteelement method
