Optimum crop enterprise mix for the farmers in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh*

The present study of optimum crop enterprise mix for the farmers in Panyam mandal of Kurnool district – Andhra?Pradesh” was undertaken to examine the possibilities and prospects of increasing income and employment through rational?allocation of resources under different capital and technological environment. The study was carried out through collection of?data by interview method and linear programming technique was used to develop optimum plans for small and large farmers?of the study area. The results of the study brought out that there was sub-optimal allocation of resources in the existing plans?of small and large farms. The optimal plans indicated the possibilities of increasing income even under existing technology with?limited available own funds. The income was increased further through relaxation of borrowing credit and adoption of?recommended technology. Credit played an important role in augmenting income. The effect of credit on income was inversely?related with the size of the farm whereas the credit needs were directly related to the farm size. Adoption of recommended?technology in conjugation with relaxed borrowing of credit enhanced the income prospects on both small and large farms of the study area.
