Patients presented in extremis; a large percentage with comorbidities, hemodynamic insta- bility and high UVA scores which was associated with AKI and high early mortality. There is a need for strong and cheap predictive scores to identify cases in a timely fashion. Targeting peritoneal dialysis in large centres without addressing gaps in knowledge, recognition, and early referral from smaller centres may undermine the essential SYL program, hence a need to upgrade the approach to include different levels for interventions.
