Relative difference d, % Conclusions: This study demonstrates that combining ibuprofen and furosemide as chemical displacers during hemodiafiltration, the removal of protein-bound uremic toxins was enhanced. Introduction: Central venous catheter (CVC) is the recommended vascular access to administer chronic hemodialysis (HD) when arterio- venous access is not yet available or unfeasible. Misplacement of CVC into azygos vein (AV) is an infrequent but potentially a cause of serious complication. Previous data are of consistent opinion that left-sided catheterization predisposed AV misplacement; but most of the catheters are peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) placed for indications rather than hemodialysis. Unintended AV misplacement of hemodialysis catheters (HDCs) has been so far inadequately studied. We sought to investigate factors associated with inadvertent AV mis- cannulation during HDC placement.
