Over the last six years, the WarrenAlpert Medical School of Brown University(AMS) has developed an integrated,patient-centered curriculum. Studentsare now engaged in a dynamic interdisciplinarylearning process that provides afoundation of basic science and clinicalknowledge, as well as clinical skills andclinical experiences that promote andenhance their professional development.The Medical School’s strong centraloversight helps to provide a high-qualitycurriculum. Ongoing quality improvementefforts are focused on enhancingall aspects of the teaching and learningenvironment. These curriculum initiativesare informed by and responsive tofaculty and students’ needs and aspirations.In addition to their preclinical andclinical training, students have a broadrange of options to pursue interdisciplinaryscholarship and traditional research.They have the opportunity to worktoward becoming physician-scientists,patient and community advocates, and/or academic leaders.
