Breast cancer is the most frequent solidtumor in women in the United States(US) and the second leading cause ofcancer-related deaths. The Surveillance,Epidemiology and End Results (SEER)program of the National Cancer Instituteprojects 192,370 women will have beendiagnosed with breast cancer in the year2009.1 Breast cancer incidence in the USdeclined by 6.7% in 2003,2 a trend attributedto a decrease in use of hormonereplacement therapy (HRT) after theWomen’s Health Initiative randomizedcontrolled trial noted an excess of thromboembolicevents and breast cancer secondaryto HRT.3
