Molecular structure of Te ₂ Mg ₂(μ ₃-Cl ₂)(μ ₂-Cl ₄)Cl ₆(THF) ₄·CH ₂ Cl ₂

A few crystals of the title compound Te_(2)Mg_(2)(μ_(3)-Cl_(2))(μ_(2)-Cl_(4))Cl_(6)(THF)_(4) · CH_(2)Cl_(2)( 1· CH_(2)Cl_(2)) were isolated accidentally from a reaction mixture that contained the starting materials TeCl_(4)and t -BuMgCl in THF and that was recrystallized from CH_(2)Cl_(2). The molecular structure of 1· CH_(2)Cl_(2)determined by X-ray crystallography features a rare TeCl_(3)~(-)moiety.
