President’s Column

Since this is my last President’s Column, I’d like to take the opportunity to share some thoughts about the highly topical word engagement, and how it applies to the mathematical sciences. This topic touches on issues of how we as mathematicians engage outside our discipline—with others in academia, in industry, and in the broader community via outreach—and also how we engage within our own discipline, at both a scholarly level and as a community that supports each other to strengthen and advance our discipline.
