Communication has always been of paramount importance for humanity. In business, to attractcustomers, negotiate with suppliers, contacting other subsidiaries and investments is needed the constantinteraction between the parties involved. So, companies are increasingly seeking tools efficient,inexpensive, able to provide communication. In this perspective, this work was developed with a view toanalyzing the peculiarities of VoIP tools, scrutinizing functional aspects, such as the history of thistechnology, the network infrastructure required for its use and the costs involved in implementing thesame in a conventional business. In this way, we tried to present the significant cost reduction that the useof VoIP is, thus demonstrating its viability not only the functional point of view, but also in its economicaspects.
